Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the influence of SST of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans on the variability of water levels in the Amazon basin, evaluating the potential of the Spatial Altimetry data for long term hydroclimatic studies in the Amazon, in the monthly and annual scales between 2003 and 2015. For the validation of the altimetric series, we used quota data from the conventional network, considering the sub-basins of the Amazonas-Peru, Solimões, Negro, Madeira and Jutaí rivers. The anomalies of altimetric dimensions had high accuracy indices compared to those of the conventional network. Statistical analyzes were carried out between SST climate indexes and quota anomalies to identify patterns of variability between large-scale climatic conditions and river level fluctuation, considering a composition of altimetric data from the ENVISAT and Jason-2 missions. There were significant negative correlations with ATN during the peak of flood in the North (Negro) and West of the Amazon (Amazonas-Peru, Solimões-oeste and Jutaí). For the rivers of the western region, the correlations with ATN persist for more months. The Upper Rio Negro region presented negative correlation with the Pacific during the summer months in the HS, while the Central portion (Solimões) presented positive relations during the months of ebb (June / July). For the Upper Rio Madeira region the negative correlations with ATN are stronger than for the ATS. Subsequently, the characterization of the hydrological regime of regions with little or no monitoring - Rios Japurá, Purus, Medium Xingu and Tapajós with Altimetric data were performed. The correlation between coasts and SSTs of the adjacent oceans with these rivers revealed that the ATN influences during the Purus river ebb period (April to August). The Xingu medium presents a strong correlation between the level and the conditions of the three oceans, but the relations with the ATN during the year stand out in the period that precedes the peak of the ebb in August. Similar relationships were found in the Tapajós basin. In Japurá the correlations with SST anomalies are weaker due to high rainfall totals in the region. Based on the SST areas better correlated with the anomalies of quotas in these regions, a multiple linear regression model was developed for predicting the anomalies of the quota for the month in which the peak of flood occurred in 2016, presenting a linear adjustment with coefficient Of determination higher than 80% for the Japurá and Médio Xingu rivers.
