Abstract: Aimmng to characterize the soil fertility factors affecting the rice growing and production cultivated on high lands, landscape land and low lands, an experiment was carried out from October 2005 to January 2006 in the Triângulo Farmer (07° 44 08 S., 63° 07 15 W.) and Cazarin Famer (07° 36 42 S., 63° 06 15 W.) both located on Humaita, municipality, Amazon State, Brazil. The treatments were distributed in split plot design. The main plots were two areas in the Triângulo Farmer and one area in the Cazarin Farmer. The secondary plots were rice cultivated in high lands, landscape and low land respectively, following a randomized complete block design with six replication, totalizing 54 experimental units. The soil parameters measured were: pH (H2O) pH (CaCl2), available P, K, Ca and Mg exchangeable, total organic carbon, in the 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm. depth. The plants parameters measured were: macronutrients (N, P, K, S, Ca and Mg) and micronutrients (Cu, Fé, Mn and Zn) leaves content, total shoots dry mater, plants height, square meter panicle numbers and grain yield. The results showed that occured a decreased on base saturation and P available content in all sub plots studied in the 0-20 cm depth. In the surface soil the K, P and Fe content showed values significantly higher in the low land than others areas, however, the base saturation was higher on the high land. The total organic mater was higher in the low land than another one, samples in 0-20 cm depth. The Cazarin Farmer presented the lower base saturation and grain yield. In the tillering stage was observed a slightly N and P deficiency in all plot, whereas the first stage of panicle formation was observed the main deficiency of N, P, S and Cu. The N was more limited on low land, whereas the P was more limited on the high land. The N and P presented high influence on the total shoots dry mater, plants heigh and tillering, decreased the grain yield. Despite the rice to be more aluminium tolerant and needs less base saturation, compared with others species, the Farmer studies still no got a soil fertility level enough to the rice cultivate.
