Resumo: Hemoglobin, hematological parameters, intraerythrocytic phosphates, and whole blood Bohr effect of Mylossoma duriventris captured in the Amazon river were studied during five different periods of the year. Some important variations of these parameters are described and can be correlated to oxygen and water level oscillations. Four anodal hemoglobin fractions were detected on starch gel electrophoreses. ATP was the major intraerythrocytic phosphate during February, April, and August while GTP was the major phosphate during October and November. These two periods differ also in terms of water level and available oxygen. Whole blood Bohr effect is directly influenced by ATP and GTP concentrations.
