Abstract:
A new species of pseudothelphusid crab, genus Kingsleya ORTMANN 1897, is described from the upper Rio Orinoco basin, in the state of Amazonas, Venezuela. The new species, Kingsleya hewashimi sp. n., is distinguished by the morphology of the first male gonopod's apical plate, which is very narrow and subcylindrical in mesial view, and the semicircular shape of the mesial process, which bears a distinct caudally directed conical projection. Its affinities with the most similar species of the genus, as well as zoogeographical aspects, are mentioned. © E. Schweizerbart'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung (Nägele u. Obermiller), 2008.
