Seasonal patterns of juvenile recruitment and reproduction in four species of leaf litter frogs in central Amazonia

Abstract

Although reproductive period was similar among species, timing of juvenile recruitment differed with different reproductive modes. In species with terrestrial timing of juvenile recruitment differed with different reproductive modes. In species with terrestrial tadpoles (Adenomera andreae, Colostethus stepheni), juvenile recruitment is synchronized with rainfall, while in species that depend on standing water for development of tadpoles (Colostethus marchesianus, Dendrophryniscus minutus), recruitment occurs in the dry season. -from Authors
