Abstract

This article depicts discrete ways of understanding the Tropics and the relationship between tropical climate and people's health. By rejecting the biased notion that diseases derive solely from climatic conditions, the author proposes analyses more concerned with the underlying socioeconomic reality, more humanitarian and less fatalist, and conceives sustainable development as the way to achieve a balance between human life and nature.
