Abstract: The essential oil obtained from the leaves and stems of Piper renitens (Miq.) Yunck., collected from the southern Amazon forest, Brazil was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The major compounds found in the oil were guaiol (13.9%), germacrene D (13.8%), α-pinene (12.5%) and β-pinene (12.3%). © 2007, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
