Abstract: The essential oils of some parts of Aniba riparia were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC/MS. The majorcomponents identified in the leaf oil were β-caryophyllene (16.9%), α-humulene (14.9%) and bicyclogermacrene (14.1%). The main volatile compound found in the bark wood and trunk wood oils was benzyl benzoate (30.9% and 36.2%, respectively). The thin branch oil was dominated by (E)-nerolidol (19.4%), elemol (16.2%) and α-humulene (10.9%). © 2002, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
