Abstract: This article discusses the contribution of art in the educational process of personal and environmental care. To care implies not only affection and personal attitudes, but also responsibility toward something or someone. The phenomenon of caring is here focused not only on the day-to-day social relationships but also on the people-environmental. Considering that caring emerges as a new way of empowering a positive conviviality among people and the constitutive elements of the environment, this work presents a study developed with a group of women who live near the Adolpho Ducke Forestry Reservation in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. The discussion of this experience through participative investigation revealed important aspects which occurred during the process of environmental education which art activities as the core procedure. Art proved to be a genuine possibility through which the participants could rethink their very existential condition. In this process they also had the opportunity to deal with their subjectivities in their relationship with the environment.
