First records of symphyllophyton campos-portoi gilg-ben. (gentianaceae) in maranhão and tocantins states, Brazil

Abstract

We report the second record of Symphyllophyton campos-portoi Gilg-Ben. in Brazil and the first records from the states of Maranhão and Tocantins, northeastern and northern of Brazil, respectively. The samples were collected in the Cerrado sensu stricto during the beginning of the dry season, within the boundaries of the Parque Estadual do Mirador, Maranhão, and on a farm in northeastern Tocantins. The finding contributes to the knowledge of the flora of these states and expands the known geographic distribution of S. campos-portoi. In this work, we present a description of the species, the first photographic record in this environment, and an identification key for the species of Symphyllophyton from Brazil. © The authors.
