Distribution of the lateral line canals in dasyatis matsubarai (elasmobranchii, dasyatidae)from japanese waters

Abstract

The external morphology of lateral line canals was described for Dasyatis matsubarai. Despite the distribution of canals is similar to the most dasyatid species, the number of tubules and branches was different, especially to hyomandibular canal on the both dorsal and ventral surfaces.
