Abstract: | Fungal contamination occurred on the salted Amazonian fish Osteoglossum bicirrhosum which were air dried in the shade. The human pathogenic fungus Exophiala werneckii was recovered as the sole contaminant from all salted fish. It was implicated for the first time as a halophilic saprophyte causing food spoilage.
